Exactly, Gested was in charge of contracts 1 year ago and still is now. Total bollocks being spoken by Ismael unless he now has the power to do the deals himself.

He possibly/probably isn't, it is (an was) likely probably Pasha who has the ultimate say so

However, if that is the case then Gestede is still culpable, as he has in effect, just provided a human shield for Pasha to hide behind

I really dont get how showing frustration that Brittain etc should have been offered new deals last year considering that Gestede was here for that time is excluding him from blame.

Plus he will be well aware that nothing has changed as we still havent renewed any contracts. Beside extending Ribeiro's strange initial 6 month deal.

What was the last first team contract we renewed? (Riberio aside) I seem to remember reading it was back in 2023 but can't remember which player it was?

Wharton

December 2023 -Β https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67665036

The last one who is still here (aside from Ribiero) was Pickering, the same week -Β https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/december/07/pickering-pens-new-deal-/

And Szmodics was the week before

Β

Then they sidelined & sacked Broughton, presumably forΒ being proactiveΒ  wasting money

Isn't the main point that we have yet another manager starting to express concerns about the underlying broken approach - these are perhaps the first salvoes in the barrage that will ultimately drive a sufficiently large hole in VI's relationship with the club to justify his (inevitable) departure, once again under a gagging clause that prevents anything meaningful coming to light about how stupidly (dis)organised we are behind the scenes as a club.Β

That's how I read his utterances anyway.Β

Probably best to focus on what happens ON the pitch for the time being, because that is where the immediate future of BRFC is to be decided. The back room stuff is just noise and distraction to stop us knowing what is really going on here (which is perfectly well summarised in many of the pages preceding this).

Oh for a leader like Kenny, oh for a chairman like John, oh for the days when we won stuff, oh but those days are long gone... Oh for winger like handbag, oh for a striker like Al; oh for some matchday excitement, oh for the stands to be full...Oh for defenders like Samba, oh for Si Garner on fire, oh what has happened to Ewood, oh don't we all like a trier? Oh for a goalie with bottle, oh for a change can't we trust? Oh for fucks sake what a shit-show, oh for some wankers we're lost.

VENKYS OUT!

Thanks.

Absolutely insane the way this club is run.

I know

I wonder how long it will be before Rovers renew the contracts of 3 first team players contracts in under a month again?Β  Even 3 in a season seems fanciful

Don't worry. Hyam was "close" to signing a new contract at least 3 weeks ago now.......

Alex Scott is a very good playerΒ

He looks pretty ordinary to me. Another one who can run a bit, pass the ball a bit, tackle a bit, head it a bit, Β have a shot from time to time, look busy. if he wasn’t English nobody would be commenting on him. Wharton is twice the player he is. Wharton can make things happen.

Maybe they just meant close (in proximity) to a new contract, as Pasha had sneaked one under his mattress

Just heard on the Talksport News that Tyler Morton is going to Lyon (I think they said) for Β£15m!!!!!

That's at least Β£14m more than he's worth imo. Really poor player in my book.

We seem to produce players like this all the time. Very average. See Scott snd Hackney. Β They can do the basics but none of them have that game changing Β β€œ X β€œ factor that Wharton has.

Dele Alli pay as you play. No brainer.Β

It's very much a no brainer to not offer him anything. 1 game, in which he lasted just 9mins, in over 2 years.

The lad clearly has issues, understandably so when you hear about his childhood but he's done. He's not regaining anything near to what he had before.Β

He'll bounce between some obscure clubs before retiring in 2 years time.

Massive shame, had the world at his feet at one point.Β

Im exactly the opposite.

Thought Eustace came across as a very nice guy but not someone to cross.

Can't warm to VI at all, but at the end of the day couldn't really care less about what either say. It's results on the pitch that count.

Even if he was at 50% of what he used to have he'd still be better than some and will be invaluable to the kids coming through. pay as you play is the only way it would ever work for him at any club now.Β

Invaluable to the kids? How so he got a straight red in his 9mins of football in well over a yearΒ

he was given a chance and he blew it needs to get his head sorted and if he wishes to continue a career in football itl likely start lower than champ level

Surely him having the world at his feet and now having absolutely nothing in terms of offers etc he will be able to provide knowledge i.e do's and don'ts. it's not like would be on 50k p/w he'd be on PAYP so it'll be upto him to prove it to himself..Β

Β

Let's face it he's not coming anyway so it doesn't really matter. was all hypothetical like 99% of this thread.Β

If he ever gets his career back on track, then I will concede that he may have figured out the do's & don'ts

Until then.....

A good chance two signings will be announced today. Probably waiting on Boro to confirm Brittain has completed his medical etc and then the announcement will be timed with when Boro announce Brittain to soften the blow.

I thought at times JE came across as just going through the motions without his heart being in the job but to be fair we now know he was pissed off and at odds with his bosses for months before he left.

I think if you are familiar with his interviews at Brum and now Derby he sounds pretty much the same though, it's just his manner.

Some come across as wooden, some are more relaxed because they've seen and done it a thousand times, i'd put VI in that category.

Some light up the screen - JDT, some go off on pure waffle - TM and some are pure Starmer = Kean !

Thought this was an interestingΒ  few lines from todays LET.Β  First time Ismael let slip the experience card.Β  Β

"We have no more injuries and we’re taking the positives today because we should’ve scored more goals. The second half was much better, very good.”
Β
β€œWe had more kids on the pitch in the first half so I think that made a difference,” he added.
Β
β€œWe had more experience, more pace and we knew what the opponent wanted to do so we could make the press right.

Think it's more down to us not having the finances to green light our moves without Boro paying us for Brittain.

We're in a chain.
