Goozburger Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) I've never thought much of Hyam. He's too soft and not aggressive enough as a defender, and while he's had some good performances, I've seen him easily bullied far more times than not. He also made for a terrible captain, and it's got to be a bit humiliating having it gifted to you and then taken away so easily. Getting £2.7m for a player we paid £1.5m isn't bad business, but the timing of it is really poor. Unless we've got something miraculous lined up in the next hour. I can't see it, though. I don't think Miller has made a good right-back so far. The Birmingham game is a key example, and he seems technically clumsy. However, I think he'd be better suited at the back given his physique. Maybe he'll get better and make that position his own with a bit of time. Edited September 1 by Goozburger 5 Quote
Gordon Gekko Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Can't wait to see the Travis, Dolan and Brittain "Congratulations Brother" messages to Hyam once he seals the move. Seriously fed up of all this now, definitely strong contenders for the drop. 3 Quote
RTM08 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Eustace will be grinning ear to ear watching this, he knew exactly what was coming and he's managed to pick up a lot of the players he wanted to keep for nothing AND spend a fortune to add to it. Utterly lunacy. 5 Quote

MarkBRFC Posted September 1 Posted September 1 1900 championship games experience have left the building. 212 championship games have come through the door And there will still be folk wondering why we are routed in the bottom 3 come December. 8 1 Quote

Utterly lunacy. JDT saw the writing on the wall too. Nobody with any serious ambition would stick around for this. The end result is obvious and you'd only be managing here if nothing better was available for you. 5 Quote
superniko Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Selling the leader of the rubber dinghy boys for almost £3m would be fine if we were a proper run club. Doing it with 1 hour left in the window, no ESC slots and nobody lined up just sums up the clowns in charge and how out of touch with football they really are Edited September 1 by superniko 8 Quote
John Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Usual caveat from VI at the weekend that “anything can happen”, but he sounded reasonably confident on Hyam staying…. Quote

Emerald Isle Rover Posted September 1 Posted September 1 As for Val Iv maintained this stance ‘he knew what he was coming into’ no sympathy for him Iv actually lost a bit of respect for him truth be told 2 Quote

Gives them a lifeline in this league. We are surely now one of the favourites to go down. The club fully deserves to go down. Sad for us fans but it's fully deserved by those running and owning the club. It's conscious, deliberate and planned. Venkys and their henchmen would rather rule over the wreckage of a League One or Two club costing them what they are prepared to spend than admit defeat, step aside and hand the club to someone prepared to fund and invest in a Championship club. Nice people? Selfish lowlife such that their own egos come before the status and survival of the club. 10 Quote

From what I've (briefly) seen of him I tend to agree - he's an athletic CB. Quote

bazza Posted September 1 Posted September 1 So much for "respecting Jack's legacy". The BBC have got it wrong. We'll finish 24th not 23rd. 1 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Said all along on here that league one was the end goal, by the start of the 27-28 season. Seems like we'll be getting there a year early. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted September 1 Backroom Posted September 1 Never liked Hyam after his ‘calm down’ gesture in injury time in a game we needed to win, rubber dinghy man - but that aside you can’t make an argument for it being logical at this point in the window. Feels like a long season incoming. 9 Quote

Hasta Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) It's the fact he's leaving now. Even if you take the view of "it's a good fee" and we invested a big chunk of that money in a replacement we won't get them in untill January (which is always overpriced or limited ) And as we saw last time we went down, by then it could be too late. Neal Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Surely there's just enough time to get a fucking deal agreed for someone decent FFS... There's no way you can dress up selling your main CB at the last minute purely for money as anything other than a cost cutting measure. Yeah, sell players who have a year left but not an hour before the fucking deadline. Set of twats. 2 Quote
