Backroom Silas Posted June 14, 2013 Backroom Posted June 14, 2013 I can't believe the grief JL is getting on this thread. Unreal. Now, yes, he is not the most gifted player with the ball at his feet, and yes, he was part of a very woeful central midfield for pretty much the whole of last season. BUT, let's have a bit of perspective. He was one of the very few on the pitch that always looked like he was giving his all in every game. He is a young lad with a lot of learning and development still to do, and he was having to play for a club that was in absolute crisis, dropping like a stone, and going through manager's like most people go through a toilet roll multipack from the supermarket. And have any of you ever thought what is must be like to slog your guts out on a pitch week after week alongside the likes of Murphy, Etuhu, Gamst, and Bentley?? Especially when you get your pay cheque each week and know that every one of them is on twice as much as you. It would be soul-destroying. After reading this thread, if a decent team (not a circus) came in from him and offered him a decent payrise and the chance to go somewhere he would be appreciated, then good luck to you Jason, go fill your boots. I would be sad to see him go - (I think he could play a major part sitting in the DM hole next season with some of the players we have got/look like getting that are actually gonna put in some workrate in front of him and bomb up and down the wings) - and I think he could offer a lot in the future, but if the right move comes I wish him all the best.

I'd pretty much agree with all of that. I have a soft spot for Lowe as he is a life long Rover despite coming from the Wigan area. That aside, he has time on his side and by his mid 20s I reckon he'll be a top notch Championship/serviceable Premier League player.

Is Jason not one from the academy, i am sure GB will know where and how to get the best out of him, we have to remember he has played under some crap managers, GB knows him so lets give him like the rest a chance to shine this next season, i remember a certain Mark Atkins that everyone labeled something similar to JL until along came King Kenny, hence the super Atko nickname, and if i am not mistaken did Batty not give him his PL medal cos he had played most games. Batty had been injured for months.
Whyoy Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Stamina, pace, power, the lad is almost the complete athlete. It's a crying shame he's not a footballer. He can't/won't/doesn't tackle which is pretty essential if you're playing as a midfield enforcer. His ability with the ball at his feet is nearly as good as my own was - rubbish. He was key part of a dire midfield last year until he got injured which coincided with an improvement in the team's results. If he feels it's time to move on then let him go. Cash in on the potential others like Stuart Pearce may see in him. The U21 recent results don't suggest his midfield influence has improved.
joey_big_nose Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Another player who we should keep. Short on quality maybe but has a lot of fight. We are a team with a lack of fight. Two thirds of the squad are closer to needing shipped out than Lowe in my opinion.
Guest Norbert Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Would I be right in saying he's more suited to a sort of Savage type of role-kick the opposing midfielder, take the ball and give a short pass to someone with more skill?Maybe he'll do that sort of thing, whilst prodding the ball to Judge or Dunn to actually pass and create something.
roversfan99 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 But he doesn't tackle, nor can he play even simple passes most of the time.
unleaded Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Season. App. Cup. Total 201112 32 0 5 0 0 0 37 0 201213 36 0 6 0 0 0 42 0 He's played a major part in the last 2 disaster seasons ....wake up GB.......
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I thought we all agreed that he was better when a creative midfielder is on the pitch. It's Bowyer's fault for playing him and Marrow together. But he didn't really have a choice today, unless Formica or Pedersen played there or something.
West Yorks Rover Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Why was'nt Lowe chosen for U21s match tonight ? Thought he was a regular now. Beat Scotland 6-0 without him anyway.
Sparky Marky Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Woy will have one eye on the rovers so he'll know how @#/? he is.
roverandout Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 why do they need crab-boy when they have just scored 6?
Sparky Marky Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Crab boy, now that is funny....although normally he goes back....any animals that go backwards?
Backroom Mike E Posted August 13, 2013 Backroom Posted August 13, 2013 Crab boy, now that is funny....although normally he goes back....any animals that go backwards? A porcupine?
West Yorks Rover Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Woy will have one eye on the rovers so he'll know how kean he is. Well at least he was'nt in the shop window for those Premier Lge teams.
roverandout Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 my dog goes backwards when he sees a mouse.
unleaded Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Main cause of Rovers decline...he plays in a such a important position and needs dropping...same league as Josh Morris and Marcus Ollson....league 2 players at best .... Has played 60 odd games over the last 2 dismal years and been an ever present in the 4 this season ...wake up GB....
G Somerset Rover Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Does Jason Lowe know what it feels like to win a match? As you say Unleaded, this kids played a major role ON the pitch in our demise. The lad probably gives himself a pat on the back if we only lose 1-0.
Backroom DE. Posted August 16, 2013 Backroom Posted August 16, 2013 Worth keeping imo, might just be able to handle League One next season.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 16, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted August 16, 2013 He wasn't that bad tonight tbh, nobody looked good to be fair!!!
Reedy You're A Star Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 To be fair to Lowe, it's not his fault he's on the pitch ahead of more deserving players. It's down to the numerous managers we've had. Which in turn have been appointed and fired by Venky's.... He's crap, but the manager needs to carry the can for continually picking him. Pressure's really on GB now, even after only 3 games.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 He's too old for the u21's now. That's why he's no longer playing for them. You have to question though if he's so bloody good in midfield, why did we struggle last season, why did England u21's tank when he was playing for them, and why are we struggling again this season when he is one of the only common denominators? Bowyer's love affair with Lowe's "magnificent energy" is going to cost him dear if he's not careful. No bloody good if you can't get anywhere near the ball. Looks like we need another "3 Club" article to try and whip up interest in our "U21 International" and persuade them to pay a hefty fee.
