  1. If Swag and the Idiots in India have a target of 10,000 season tickets (which they couldn’t get pre global pandemic), they obviously want circa £4 million quid from the fans. If times are as desperate as Waggott is making out, why not try something a bit more radical than begging and emotional blackmail? The initial plan for BRSIT, which later amalgamated with the supporters trust to become Rovers Trust, was for fans to pledge £1000 to attempt to buy the club. It was ambitious, but soft pledges were made. If they need £4 million so much I reckon 4,000 fans would find a grand each for a collective 20% stake in the club EASILY. It’s 2 season tickets, there’s a much more tangible benefit, people might be willing to make more of a sacrifice or sell their Granny’s pearls for something more meaningful than live streams and promises. Considering what Venky’s paid before decimating us they’d be getting a good price. I’ve been trying to get in touch with someone at the trust for a while (unrelated matter) but @mhead - has Waggott been sounded out about something like this? Trust should always be pushing for a stake. Raise the “desperately needed” funds, build some good will and get fans on side, re-engage and prove we are all really in it together.

  2. Which stand has only gone up by £20? My seat has gone up by £80 in the Riverside this season. Do you honestly think that is an acceptable rise during a global pandemic with the biggest recession in decades upon us, in a town like Blackburn? They have also quietly dropped the free under 8's tickets in the family stand which I think is disgusting, a dad and a couple of kids that age have suddenly had £170 added to there bill In that stand. Is that acceptable in the current climate?

  3. It wasn't the supporters who took the club to the third division and a debt of £150m.

  4. That is the kind of thinking that Waggott should've doing. Instead we had the announcement before the restart that there was no recompense for missing games, only the offer of iFollow. This was followed by weeks and weeks of silence and then the announcement that season tickets were going up by hugely disproportionate levels and, in many cases pretty much out of supporters reach in such uncertain times. And both announcements paid scant reference to the possible individual plight of supporters instead pleading poverty and, annoyingly, trying to put supporters on some kind of guilt trip. Shambolic management. Your idea of supporters having some collective say in the happenings at Ewood really appeals to me and I would certainly consider this but the realist in me knows this is highly unlikely to happen. There are too many at Ewood and in India who don't want their boats rocking by us plebs.

  5. Yeah I feel the same about Williams, he started last season in good form too partnering Lenihan at the back. Williams is someone who can slot in for a few games here and there, but if he's your team every week at this level, then you wont be getting promoted.

  6. Yep. All correct. Sadly this never ending conveyor belt seems to be the way they like to run things and is what makes talk of growing and building fantasy talk. Unless you are going to be proactive and secure prized assets down long term then you will just have a massive rebuild every 2-3 years and miss out on fortunes in transfer fees Look at Brentford - recently gave Ollie Watkins a 5 year deal as reward for his performances and to protect their asset. Aston Villa come sniffing and have to cough up £30 million for him because Brentford hold all the cards with the long-term contract in their favour. We don't seem to operate like that and it is staggering and worrying that assets like Nyambe, JRC and Dack are all out of contract in 8 months. If nothing else we need them under contact for FFP purposes.

  7. Bolton won't be paying any of those people back. At worst they will defer until next season, an option Preston are now offering their fans, but one which Waggott won't do here. Their fans have no right to refunds so there will be no grovelling or begging. They haven't acted dishonestly any way shape or form. Their package Is exactly the same as ours- asking fans to pay up but accepting they can't guarantee entry and offering I Follow instead. Their 8000 have signed up to more or less exactly the same as our 2100. Potential admission at an unspecified point in future and I Follow access until that stage. What have Bolton done that isn't honourable or clear? Its the same as at Rovers. And I certainly don't think Waggott's lies (in May saying that prices would be reduced to compensate for missed games and in September putting prices up by at least £50 everywhere in the ground) represents honesty or transparency. 8000 sales vs 2100 is irrelevant? Try telling that to Waggott right now, I'm sure he'd kill for Bolton's numbers of cash in the tills. It will be no easier to get a refund from Rovers than Bolton. The difference is that they moved quickly and got them on sale early doors with months of sales to get the numbers up. We waited until mid September and put a deadline in place of 2nd October. Just over 2 weeks to complete all our sales, which coincided with further government restrictions as case numbers rocketed. A very narrow window of opportunity just when things go backwards again. Not good. You are of course correct that I spent all March, April, May, June, July and August calling for communication and season tickets to be put on sale. I had my £400 sat waiting to be paid to the club as I do every summer. Sadly, despite waiting for 6 months and repeatedly asking for clarity we got nothing. Not a peep. Then once pre season started it was Waggott saying he wouldn't put them on sale until he knew when and how many fans were allowed into Ewood. After hearing this I decided to spend my.£400 on a holiday to Greece instead. I can't wait forever. Whilst on holiday, completely out of the blue without any warning, the club announced they were on sale, despite still not being able to guarantee anything yet all of a sudden wanted everyone's money. Inexplicably they put a deadline of 2nd October for sales, which isn't convenient for me having spent my money on something else. Having waited for 6 months and told my money wasn't wanted then expecting me to come running with it at short notice is cheeky to say the least. I also want to be informed why my 25 years of uninterrupted season tickets, 1875 membership and away day tickets count for nothing for the pilot fixtures and yet someone who has never been to Ewood before can pay £600 for the diamond club and have priority over me. When the club explain that one to me I might reconsider. Until then I'm wondering why I've bothered all those years.

  10. Yeah, lets get rid of the lad who's had 2 promotions and over 100 league appearances for 3 players with no experience at all. People keep putting grayson in as a viable option for some reason. Non league footballer at best

  11. No, don’t make this out to be something it isn’t. If you can’t afford a ticket then you can’t afford it. I know how bad the employment situation is and my company has employed over 250 extra people since March. People who lost their jobs in the blink of an eye after years of service in various industries. I’ve also employed people off this board and offered to help others in private conversations. The “stop whinging...” is to those with the means to pay who are hiding behind their “disgust” at the extra £20 and a delay on releasing the details.

  12. After the international break we've got two games a week up until the new year. Lenihan, Williams and Ayala won't hold up under that schedule (injuries and suspensions). You need depth - which is where Wharton comes in. Conversely it's why we need depth elsewhere - our new style of play won't be as effective when we're asked to back it up 4 days later.

  13. If you had said on here back in the summer of 2018, 2019 or even the start of summer 2020 that we would be in October 2020 and still relying on Amari Bell as our only senior LB and Derrick Williams as CB you'd have been laughed at. Yet here we are. No surprises to see the shift from some people from a position of we need a LB and are going to sign one (the position of all summer) to now preparing for the inevitable disappointment on that front which will be dressed up with 'Bell had a good game against Derby so we can make do' We've already been prepped to expect nothing but loans from here and clearly we are relying on things falling into place on that front including a suitable candidate becoming available and the loaning club striking a mutually beneficial deal that we are willing and able to pay, all within a matter of a few days before the window shuts. Unlikely the way our recruitment department operates. We'd be better off preparing for the January window given the time it takes to get deals sorted.

  14. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18763464.still-there---rovers-boss-possibility-european-moves/ “I think we need some depth into our group, I don’t think we need to go and sign him or him to improve our starting XI, but create competition." Mowbray has said again that he doesnt necessarily want players to come in and start. I really hope its just his attempt at man management, theres no point getting a left back not even as good as Bell who cannot be part of a promotion chasing team.

  18. With such an insulting attitude towards people as if they have £400, a price rise for an inferior product, just waiting in their pocket regardless of affordability or value. I can only presume that your ignorance stems from doing very well for yourself and not appreciating that others might not be. I have bought mine but am not crass enough to be so derogatory towards those who either are put out by the price rise in line with an unavoidably inferior product. Or in extreme cases like chaddy, cannot justify such a price on ifollow links having been made redundant. As loyal a fan as youll find. With quotes like "stop whinging, get your hands in your pocket and support your club" its little wonder that you have been accused of being an employee of the coub in the past. Theres nothing we can do, the responsibility is all yours regardless of what we do. You also repeatedly tell us that Venkys will write any cheques, surely theres no need to put prices up? Even if the club shares your view that value shouldnt come into it and we should pay regardless, that doesnt work practically. Putting prices up when the product quality goes down makes no sense.

  19. We win a crap game with a scrappy goal off Darragh’s arse - I get a Sunday paper, study the tables, next fixtures, ‘ooo where can we go with a win next week?’ watch Quest, watch the Sky highlights, watch Super Sunday, generally loving life. We lose an ‘entertaining’ game and Quest will be deleted and I’ll try and avoid anything football related till at least Monday.

  20. I don't get how it's taken this long for the manager to work out that CM is his best position. He played him there against Brentford when we first signed him and he was MOTM. His enthusiasm to want the ball, the quickness in his play really livens us up and makes us quicker in the transitions from defence to attack, which suits the like of Dolan and Armstrong. I think he links us together really well now. Far too long have I seen Rovers teams far to slow on the counter, like running through treacle. Smallwood and Downing playing painful sideways passes and nothing possession football, now all of a sudden we have someone who wants to play in tight areas and attack space. It breeds confidence and a way of thinking suited to our players. I understand people's frustration with him but the manager has to take some responsibility in wasting a year of his development whilst playing Smallwood and Bennett ahead of him. His end product is questionable but in centre mid, he's finally found his place, I just hope the manager doesnt hang him out to to dry after one bad game.

  25. I agree Redknapp and Merson are both absolutely dreadful. But they'll be there because it's Liverpool v Arsenal after this game. Not that I expect either of them to add anything of value to that match either.

  26. Bit of a different issue, but what riles me is when you are watching/listening to a sport bulletin on the news/5 Live etc and the presenter, a ‘specialised’ sports presenter at that, can’t even pronounce fairly high profile sport stars/clubs.

  27. All their goals this season have come via set pieces. They are quite a big team whereas we are generally quite small apart from a few. if Ayala was anywhere fit i would have him in just to head things away. Either that or we just play them off the park and dont give them many set piece opportunities.

  28. Brilliant win for Lancs. Did well to get 140-8 after a poor start. The bowlers really came through, especially Livingstone 4-23 and Parky 3-9. We’ve got as good a chance as anyone in the Finals this Saturday, although the weather looks likely to put an end to much, if any action. I assume they have got a reserve day on Sunday. Let’s hope we can do it.

  30. So we came out of the match against Derby in good spirits, if we head into the international break with another win then I think we would have made a fantastic start to the season. Cardiff are a tricky unit, and its been a while since we beat them at Ewood Park. Confidence is high though, so hopefully we can maintain that vibe and come away smiling once again. Not expecting much changes, maybe a cameo from Ayala from the bench??

  31. Barely any senior football at all between those three! As it stands too if Bell got injured we'd have to move Williams to LB, leaving only Lenihan and Ayala as CBs with any senior experience (if we sold Wharton), and they're pretty injury prone themselves. I'd keep Wharton around (though I know he's at the age where he'd want to be more than, say, fourth choice CB) and, ideally, sign a first-team left back so Williams isn't needed there at any point.

  32. As it stands, if I don’t get into Ewood this season then I will be able to watch all the home games and 7 away midweek matches as part of my season ticket. In addition I will also accrue a cash back that will be used against offsetting my season ticket next season. There is not a chance in hell season tickets will go up next season if fans are not allowed into watch live football this season so I stand to have almost £200 knocked off next seasons ticket leaving me with a cost of £259 for next season. I am happy with that scenario as it stands.

  40. I genuinely cant understand that, winning football is the best football however you achieve it. Give me that over the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth every day of the week. Just hope we get many more days like the last two Saturdays this season where we can combine both!

  41. Yes mate. They’ve been terrible. There’s no more negative adjectives that I can say to describe their tenure that haven’t already been said. But it’s your club. Our club. We’ll still be here long after Swag, Mowbray and Venkys...so collect your toys, stick your bottom lip back in and support your club in its hour of need.

  42. I’m currently recovering from major surgery so will be shielding and therefore not able attend matches whilst infection rates are high. I know others who are also unwilling to attend for similar reasons. I have contacted the club several times stating that I would be happy to renew my season ticket if iFollow was an option to attending but to date have not received a definitive answer. It seems that the club are missing out on renewals from a significant number of fans because they are assuming that most are actually wanting to attend matches when in reality many, more vulnerable folk, are not comfortable in doing so.

  43. Eh? Am I missing something here? What more can they do but to offer season tickets for £399 with 30 efl passes included worth £300 and £170 worth of refunds on next seasons ticket cost? Effectively getting £470 worth of value for £399 AND supporting your club in the meantime...they even let you pay monthly...seems more than fair to me?

  44. It’s refreshing to see so much optimism about the Rovers on this thread, I don’t believe I have seen things this positive since I started looking at this board four or five years ago. However beaten up the squad have been, they’ve answered all questions the last two games. The midfield has been outstanding, and Bell & Williams haven’t looked this good since League 1 days. Kaminski has been just what the doctor ordered. I do not want to quash the enthusiasm, and normally I’m crapping sunshine. I guess I’m the voice of cautious optimism here, looking for Rovers to concede early, and fight like crazy to get a point. If so, my hopes for the rest of the season rise with each game, and each returnee as he becomes fit. Yes, I will gladly take my plate of crow afterwards, chicken-fried and with cream gravy, please (what else for a Southerner?!)

  46. I'll watch the first hour Gav then I've got a bloody meeting so will have to catch up later. Could go either way this one (I suppose that goes for any T20 game really though) but Sussex come into it with a bit of form, unlike us. Once we'd qualified we never turned up.

  47. As regards the transfer window, on the basis that any midfielder coming in at this stage would probably only be a squad member as opposed to an automatic starter, I'd rather see Buckley and even Davenport get a chance than be pushed still further down the pecking order. We do need a quality LB though. Back up keeper you could probably get away without, but you are taking a gamble that Kaminski won't pick up a serious injury.
