Venky's have been nothing but poison for this club. I am pretty sure most posters on here are in agreement with that, but sadly, there are far too many, who are STILL trotting out the badly advise crap. Until the fan base is united and finds a way of coming together with a common goal to drive them out, our beloved club, is indeed, in grave danger.

There are some of these happy clappers on here every time we are doing ok, attacking any fans with a more balanced view. During the lean times (i.e., the last six months) they have rarely changed their minds but instead just lie low until they can once again pipe up as if nothing has happened. Their modus operandi tends to be to randomly attack other supporters who do not agree with them, as if they are the self-styled defenders of Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

This section of our support will always be there and we will almost certainly never be fully "united". It didn't happen in the darkest days of Kean, it won't happen anytime short of the threat of dissolution a la Bury FC. It's just the way some people are. They will support the club to a fault. Other fans are far too critical far too quickly. It's just the diversity of any group, you'll get outliers in each. More important is to focus on the majority opinion.

So, this being "united"...it's not worth waiting for as it's like Waiting for Godot. Not gonna happen. Fans should do whatever they can when they feel the time is right, not when some "Get behind the club, FFS, you're not a proper fan" brigade finally have a lightbulb go off above their heads when we're in administration.

"Badly advised"? For way over a whole decade now? Come on. The example you yourself mention about this poor advice is from 2010!!!

When results still do not happen and relegation happens then heads roll in business. They understand business. You don't need "football knowledge" as another poster put it, to read a table. You don't need to know sport to know that winning games is better than losing them. It isn't a hard concept to grasp.

If they were being badly advised they'd have woken up to this eventually and sacked those advising them. They'd have tried different approaches. They'd have listened to those who reached out to them. But they don't. They didn't sack Kean. They ignore all attempts to reach out to them. They keep the Coventrio on.

The badly advised line worked for a while but it's turned into groundhog day and it's not convincing. Some of our fans made up their minds about this badly advised line in 2011 and have stuck to their guns ever since, adhering the sunk cost logical fallacy approach. Why are they badly advised, anyway? We have no evidence to show that they give too much of a crap about our league position. They bought us as a longstanding top-flight club, after all. Exactly WHAT do they care about when it comes to our club...?!?! It sure as heck ain't success on the pitch.

But badly advised as the excuse for over a decade of hands-off management and continuing underachievement? Really strains at one's credulity to think they can be "badly advised" continuously for 11 whole years and counting...

Brilliant post

Seems for the first time ever they took some good advice about 4 years ago. It took relegation to the 3rd tier for the first time in about 40 years and 2 sets of audits to wake them up though.

You have to presume a lot of that advice came from Mowbray and co who in truth are suited to that level. Seems they've been advising mostly ever since and the long and short of it is we've gone nowhere. Spaffed another load of money and are facing the same dilemmas we did that lead to that mess in the first place.

Seems one bit of good advice to them that actually works and you are set for life.

Either some people have difficulty comprehending what I've posted or simply don't want to take it on board.

In my view they are basically well intentioned, have been badly advised over the years and continue to be badly advised.

BUT and it's a big BUT - that doesn't really matter - they have to run the Club properly and can't just put blind faith in the people they engage to run BRFC on their behalf then sit idly back whilst those people run the Club into the ground.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I get that the words 'badly advised' anger many because some Rovers fans use that as a cop out to excuse the owners. However, it is true that they were and still are being badly advised. That doesn't excuse them in any way, though. They are not innocent or naive, they simply know nothing about football and how best to run a football club. Why they still own this club is a mystery.

In my opinion, they don't know when to step in and put their foot down, so things just drag on and on. Remember that nonsense "we are confused" interview? He wasn't kidding. That's why the charlatans are having a whale of a time. They will never have it this 'good' again at any other club.

The HSH pillocks, Waggott, whoever else has their ear...I don't believe a single one of them advises anything for the benefit of the club. It's all about getting out as much as they can for themselves and their mates. It doesn't take a genius to work out why one of the clowns recently called them 'fantastic owners'.

Any owner with a shred of football knowledge would recognise that 2 wins in 17 isn't good enough and that a change needs to be made. Mowbray even expected it. Not these owners, though.

Any owner with a shred of football knowledge would recognise that your best assets need to be tied down to help the club in the long term. Not these owners, though.

The manager looks fed up, his demeanor says he couldn't care less and he is now slowly backtracking from his aim of the top 6. Not a problem. Crack on. After all, who has given them all that spiel and jargon about 'philosophy, identity, transitions, possession football, growing the club etc'? He's probably viewed as some kind of football expert in Pune who just needs a bit more time.

Do the owners want Premier League football? Probably, but they have no idea how to get there and imo, they are entrusting people at the club, who don't want promotion to the Premier League. The entire lot of them need to go in order for us to get our club back. As the owners won't sell up, the first step should be to launch the Coventrio out.

The sad thing is that the whole set up is primed for an ambitious Chief Exec / Manager to revolutionise this club.

The owners continue to pump millions and millions in, but they're as hands off as you could possibly get - you really do have carte blanche at Ewood.

Unfortunately this situation has attracted the Waggots / Mowbrays / Andersons of the world, rather than a Wilder.

When I hear the phrase "badly advised", I reach for my revolver.

A few years ago, Kate Hollern used it to some Rovers fans on election night...to a chorus of gasps, guttural noises...and worse!

I remember that. The only time I've sworn at a woman. 'Oh fuck off'.

  • 1 month later...

Can we fire this bloke back off to where he came from now or should we wait for him to fail to land any decent free agents either then do it?

When Park was appointed I made a semi humorous post about how he'd like it at Ewood because all he'd have to do would be to put a few offers in for players which would never be accepted, sit back twiddle his thumbs then when the player eventually moved elsewhere lament "We did all we could".

Then just pick the crumbs up off the PL loan table at the last minute of players the parent Clubs were keen to offload.

Nice work if you can get it.

Spoken partially in jest but sadly and predictably not too far wide of the mark.

Question, has he had any proper input into this summer transfer targets and has he even properly started in the job?

I remember when this site would autocomplete certain words with

"The words I used deserved a ban"

This feature should be brought back for anyone who utters the "badly advised" tripe.

Was listening to Undr the Cosh’s Craig Conway interview and he used those very words! He had some interesting things to say about playing in front of home crowds as opposed to away too.

Certainly agree that he needs more time to be properly viewed on his input!

John Park comes to the club with a decent CV, once he has his feet under the table let’s hope he can bring the same quality here now that Venkys have well and truly turned the tap off.

After joining Celtic in 2007, Park helped bring players like Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster to the club. An astute scout and recruitment specialist, Park was also important to the signings of Ki Seung-Yeung and Moussa Dembélé.

I actually feel people are being harsh on Park, so far. He has only just rocked up really (thanks to our usual glacial recruitment) then been given fuck all budget and negotiating the deals has probably been Venus' area again (for some unbefuckingknown reason).

I'd imagine he's wondering what he's let himself in for. There is, after all, a reason Stuart Harvey moved down a league to jump ship. I'll give it more time to judge Park.
