It seems to be the modern way TS, it happens all the time in my sector now when recruiting for top execs but 10 years ago it was unheard of.

I retired from a senior HR role 17 years ago and I had been using recruitment companies for middle management roles upwards for at least 15 years before.

Yeah I appreciate that some sectors (particularly private sector) have done it for a long time, but I work in what you might call a 'quasi-public' sector, and it is a relatively new thing for us. Not least because the cost of recruitment is borne by our tenants so I guess we were always reluctant to spend anything that was deemed to be unnecessary.

Well said Glen, it gives us a picture of what is going on it also proves Venkys have learnt nothing in 12 years thank God by chance we've stumbled across GB who in turn found JDT just in time

Bit of a strange comment there, Venkys have learnt nowt in 12years,  Glen clearly states that they the Venkys intervened to get GB who in turn got JDT, so no we clearly didn't stumble on GB/JDT, I agree yes it was just about in time but a little credit even though loathe to give it.

I'll wait until the season starts, but JDT's attitude and demeanour is much better than Tony Mowbray's at least. I can imagine a younger player being uninspired after the latter says you should learn from a 30 year old clogger who spent most of their career in the lower leagues. Or told they're not playing well when stuck out of your natural position via a post match interview. Or having the club you're contracted to talked down and considered a minor small fish.

Hopefully the new team will not be another Paul Ince.

Until last Monday Carvahal and Farke would have absolutely been my preference but right now I'm glad we have JDT over them. There is a freshness to him, an exuberance that I haven't seen for many years. His meeting of all the employees was a masterstroke and immediately got everything off to a positive start. If course he could crash and burn, it goes without saying but right now I'm more content about the football side of our club than I have been for a long time.

Yeah his stock is arguably lower than the other two, only due to the lack of time he's been a head coach. I think that's better if anything. He will see this as a chance to prove himself. I'd imagine he sees us as a stepping stone to get a move to a bigger club. Which can only benefit us as a club if he is successful here. He is a born winner and won't settle for mediocrity. Which again benefits us. The players should thrive under an exciting up and coming coach who has all the ambition to succeed.

How is it he couldn’t do that ? He’s been involved in pro football for long enough.

I’m no Waggott sympathiser but when you look at GB’s remit and the six areas he’s taken, Waggott had responsibility for these and all of the commercial stuff before. It’s completely normal for businesses to hire specialist recruitment companies. Provide them with a brief and booom! - I’m not complaining 👍🏼

That should said you don't assume that the 4 players I have suggested to have the quality to be part of the first team squad for the coming season. You seem to have zero confidence in them to step up. Whilst I have confidence in them all stepping up and being part of the first team squad for this season. Jack Vale is the one I think can be success this season. His movement, ability to finish, running in behind defence are the things I think are his strengths.

Basically I try to get there but no guarantee I will come.

that is what has been reported by Alan Nixon and local journalists.

I wouldn't assume that they all would, because if any don't, we are short of players. I would loan Vale to League 1 or 2 and see if he can score regularly there off the back of a poor spell in non league.

I think we could have all predicted that they wouldn't bother. Personally looking to schedule? Empty words.

Mental.

Rich Sharpe said last week we would have work permits sorted.

Still not been granted!!!

So that means pre season has started with Lowe 😂

Surely they can observe / set out instructions... if not literally 'take' the training?

The start of pre-season training, is all about beasting the players, to get fitness levels up. Even Lowe should be able to do that.

No surprised you assume that.

Vale should be given game time here not loan out again. He is more than good enough to be part of this squad. That is based on what I have seen of him in the last 3 seasons. I would have like to see him part of the squad last season myself

shame they not be granted but Ben Rosen has taken some of the training. I'm sure JDT will have outlined what he wants to do with the training this week

Wildly shakes his head

I'm a big supporter of the trust (also ex secretary)

But wow this post was best unwritten.

How can you represent the members and not be compromised now SW is your friend?

I think you've crossed the line of no return.

What a divisive contribution! I asked you a few weeks ago in relation to a similar post directed at someone else: Why are you doing this?

It seems clear to me that Mhead's areas of disagreement with SW are explicit and "on the table". The fact that he says he is maintaining a warm relationship and is still willing and able to question/ challenge is very welcome to me.

Moreover, I have spoken to Mhead many times and I have found no reason to suspect that he has anything but the best interests of the club at heart.

Again, here you are dissing/undermining someone, whose agenda is to get the club into safe hands. I always thought that was your own agenda as well.

So I am wondering what is the pay off (to you) of undermining someone, who is using their time and initiative to try and help?

I do hope it is not an issue where you believe that it is only you, who is blessed with the divine right to be trying to influence the shit show that has been BRFC for ten years and counting!

My point stands, as does my support for the Rovers trust, i'm sure Mhead can speak for himself, and does not need you to answer for him.

Anyone who gives their time and effort to chair the trust, has only the best interests of the club at heart, its a thankless task, i should know the amount of times the business plan hit my desk during the formation of it.

You perhaps should practice what you preach, because you are barking up the wrong tree, and quite frankly I have zero interest in what you have to say.

If your friends are gonna keep sending a dog, they ought to send a bigger one than you!!!!!!

If you have come to such a firm conclusion that Vale is "more than good enough" following about an hour of senior football spread across 3 or 4 cameos to the extent that you would assume that he is ready and sign a player less as a result then fair enough. Just respect that I wouldn't assume that yet, I am not saying that he isn't good enough but simply that we don't know either way.

Based on Vale's performances since January I'd agree with Chaddy that he deserves to be part of the senior squad this season. Not a starter, but someone who can do a job. We should definetly look for someone who can challenge as a main striker, Vale for now is a squad player. There is very options in League 1/2 of strikers with potential currently. If you look at the scoring charts you'll find mostly experienced know-how players who do well at that level, but doesn't translate to Championship.

Scott Twine is the obvious forward target you'd want, but can't be classified as a striker and competition is huge. Also a bit of problem fitting him with both Dack and Markanday already options playing of a striker.
